High Point Furniture Market

What IS High Point Furniture Market?

Maybe you’ve heard people talk about it, maybe you haven’t. Maybe you don’t care or maybe NOW, with this mesmerizingly marvelous neon sign above, you’re curious to know more?! Either way, “Market”, “Furniture Market”, “High Point”, or “High Point Furniture Market” are all referring to the same place, Disneyland for Interior Designers, furniture retailers, vendors & manufacturers. They’ve got food, they’ve got booze, they’ve got music, BUT most importantly, they have the most beautifully crafted new furniture, and home decor introductions that have yet to hit the public market. Every 6 months, for 5 days, we get to indulge in the charming new trends and ideas that outline the industry’s future. I don’t know if I would call it a trade show, because it is SOOOO - MUCH - BETTER. These buildings house b-e-a-utiful, full blown designer showrooms. These showrooms are a gateway to “what’s next”. The only difference is, instead of asking the question, you get to see it.

As we evolve, our homes should, too.

Ok, that was obviously my description of HPMKT above, Googles description is below.

*HIGH POINT FURNITURE MARKET (HPMKT):

The description of HPMKT: The High Point Market is a trade show held twice a year in High Point, North Carolina, USA. It is the largest furnishings industry trade show in the world, with over 12 million square feet of showroom space featuring tens of thousands of products from over 2,000 exhibitors. The event attracts buyers, designers, and industry professionals from all over the world, and serves as a platform for furniture and home decor manufacturers to showcase their latest designs and innovations. The market is held in April and October of each year and is open only to members of the trade, not to the general public.

So, What’s the point? Why Should I care about Market?

Well, if you shop at furniture stores or work with an Interior Designer, this is how HP Market can benefit you. Everyone in the trade (designers, retailers, vendors & manufacturers) go to educate and appreciate the new introductions to best serve their markets and their clients/customers. Since this show is not open to the general public, it allows the designers and retailers to get the first look at what will be introduced/ presented with a wide range of options. We get to meet with vendor representatives to build incredible relationships that can lead to future collaborations and partnerships. These relationships extend an unparalleled level of service to our clients with access to products and pricing they wouldn’t otherwise be privileged to without working with a designer. These relationships are crucial to the success of our business and theirs. With every vendor in one location, interior designers can save time and money by seeing a large number of products and suppliers all in one place. We can efficiently compare products and prices and make informed decisions on behalf of our clients.

The details are not the details. They make the design.

High Point Market is a magical place. Absolutely exhausting and mentally draining, but worth every minute to ensure we are able to receive the best service from our vendors, which ultimately leads to more efficient and reliable customer service.
